Hotels Grand Canyon South Rim

Near the Grand Canyon are two small towns: Grand Canyon Village and Tusayan. Grand Canyon Village is actually located within Grand Canyon National Park. Tusayan is situated just outside the park entrance, about 10 kilometers from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center.

Hotels Grand Canyon Village

Grand Canyon Village is a unique place to stay. The town is located in Grand Canyon National Park, beyond the park entrance. From your hotel, it’s just a few minutes’ drive to the edge of the Grand Canyon. You can also walk via the South Rim Trail, an easy hike (about 3 kilometers) along a mostly paved road to Yavapai Point.

Hotels Tusayan

Staying in a hotel in Grand Canyon Village is naturally magnificent. But the nearby town of Tusayan is also a great base for visiting the South Rim. There are plenty of hotels in Tusayan, offering plenty of choices.

Tusayan is close to the entrance of Grand Canyon National Park and a few minutes’ drive from Grand Canyon National Park Airport. Tusayan also features the Grand Canyon IMAX Theater, a large theater that shows a film/docu about the Grand Canyon.

Traveling from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon

Driving from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon South Rim? Then you’ll pass through various small towns. The towns in order of distance (in kilometers) to the Grand Canyon South Rim are: Grand Canyon Village (3.5 kilometers), Tusayan (10.6 kilometers), Grand Canyon Junction (46.5 kilometers), Williams (95 kilometers), Ash Fork (124 kilometers), Seligman (164 kilometers), and Kingman (277 kilometers). Hotels can be found in all these towns for your visit to the Grand Canyon!

Cheap Hotel Grand Canyon

What is the cheapest hotel in the Grand Canyon? We look at all hotels within a maximum of one and a half-hour drive from Grand Canyon Village. A hotel that often comes out as the cheapest is Ash Fork Inn.

This 2-star motel is located on the route from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon in the town of Ash Fork. Former visitors of Ash Fork Inn also particularly appreciate the location of the motel and the good price/quality ratio. Expect, for the modest prices (a few tens of dollars per night), not a beautifully decorated hotel with a pool. Ash Fork Inn is, however, an excellent pitstop from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon!

Hotel Grand Canyon North Rim

The Grand Canyon South Rim is very touristy, with plenty of hotels and a wide variety of tours available. The North Rim, a 6-hour drive from Las Vegas, is quite different! This area is less accessible and is only open from mid-May to mid-October due to heavy snowfall in the winter months.

Unique to the North Rim is the tranquility and the abundance of trees, which grow here due to the significantly higher elevation of the North Rim compared to the South Rim. The temperature at the North Rim is also considerably lower.

There is only one North Rim hotel, named Grand Canyon Lodge. This simple 2-star hotel is beautifully located on the edge of the North Rim (see photo below). There is a restaurant, a shop, and a campground available at the Grand Canyon Lodge.

Stay on a Ranch

Looking to stay on a ranch? Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the old west? At the Grand Canyon Western Ranch, you’ll find it all: cowboys, songs by the campfire, horseback riding, and wagon rides. And all of this in the middle of nature, just a 2-hour drive from Las Vegas.

The Grand Canyon Western Ranch is located to the west of the Grand Canyon. At the ranch, you can also book a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. The ranch is just a half-hour drive from the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a floating glass platform above the Canyon. It’s a truly beautiful place to stay near the Grand Canyon!

Staying at the bottom of the Grand Canyon

At the bottom of the Grand Canyon, at the foot of the Colorado River, you’ll find the Phantom Ranch. The Phantom Ranch is only accessible on foot, by mule, or by raft (via the Colorado River).

It is assumed that the Phantom Ranch, which has over 10 cabins, is one of the hardest hotels to book in the USA. Reservations are distributed through a lottery to manage the high demand and distribute reservations fairly. Curious about how to reserve a cabin? Read more about the Phantom Ranch Lottery here.
