A lo largo de millones de a\u00f1os, la garganta se form\u00f3 por las corrientes del r\u00edo Colorado, que atraviesa el Gran Ca\u00f1\u00f3n. El Gran Ca\u00f1\u00f3n mide 446 kil\u00f3metros en su punto m\u00e1s largo, y su anchura var\u00eda entre 15 y 29 kil\u00f3metros. El Ca\u00f1\u00f3n alcanza una profundidad de m\u00e1s de 1.800 metros y es incre\u00edblemente impresionante admirarlo desde el borde (el Rim).
